FAQs

Why do your items seem so expensive compared to other items I can buy at the store?

As the old saying goes, “you get what you pay for”. When you buy from Rebel Leather, the goods that you purchase are made with the best possible materials and hardware, are 100% handmade by one craftsman in the USA, and are made to last for a very long time. With proper care, your items will last longer than you will.

What do you mean “none of that genuine leather stuff”? Isn’t that real leather?

Unfortunately, “genuine leather” is one of the lowest grades of leather. Often times, it uses a very thin portion of the hide, and typically is glued to another material. It is also usually chemically treated and in most cases, has a painted-on finish. That’s why many “genuine leather” goods will only last for a little while before they start to peel or fall apart.

Full Grain Leather, on the other hand, is the highest grade. It is one solid piece and uses the full thickness of the hide, which gives it much more strength, durability, and most importantly, character. Full grain is the stuff that lasts forever and only looks better with age.

Do you make custom items?

We sure do, and they’re our favorite thing to make! Check out the CUSTOM page for more info on how we can make your vision a reality.

What is the best way to care for my leather products?

It’s pretty easy to keep your items looking great for years to come. If your item gets messy, the best way to clean it is by gently wiping it down with a damp or dry cloth and let it air dry. Once dry, you can apply a leather conditioning balm to keep it moisturized and looking great. Our favorite balm is Smith’s Leather Balm. Be sure to only use natural products and know that applying anything to your leather can and probably will darken it’s appearance.
