Hey Y’all, I’m Brian!  I guess you could call me the Chief Rebel here at Rebel Leather.  I live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with my amazing wife and three wonderful kids.  Let me tell you the story of how we got here…..

I stumbled into leather crafting by happenstance back in 2022.  One day while bored at work, I fell down the YouTube rabbit hole and found myself watching a video of a maker creating a wallet by hand.  I was entranced by the sounds, by the strange looking tools, by the focus and precision in the makers eyes and hands.  It was all so instantly interesting to me that I had to try it.  “That doesn’t look so hard!”, I said to myself.  Famous last words….  

So, after a bunch of research to figure out what I would need in order to make a wallet for myself, I bought the materials and a couple of cheap tools, and off I went.  I made a thing.  Out of nothing.  It wasn’t pretty, but it got the job done.  As soon as I finished it, I wanted to make another.  Then another.  And before I knew it…. I felt an obsession that I had never felt before.  The only thing I could think about was “what to make next?”.  I made wallets for family members, friends, acquaintances, basically anybody that would allow me to make something for them.  Through those projects, I started to develop an identity in the things I was making.  Every design that I came up with, I carried myself first.  Some designs worked.  Most didn’t.  With each one, I learned lessons and I pushed myself to try something different.

When I ran out of people to make stuff for, I decided it was time to start selling (you know, a means to keep the hobby alive).  I started selling at local markets, and even opened a pop-up shop inside a local general store.  Then, I started selling on Etsy.  Suddenly, I felt like there was something on the line.  Every piece that I made MUST be perfect.  If it’s not good enough for me, it’s not good enough for a customer.  Period.

And now, here we are - still striving for perfection.  My commitment to you as a customer is to give you the best possible product, thoughtfully designed, and made to be passed down to the next generation.  In a world full of cheap, throw-it-away products, it’s time to get back to basics.  Handmade, obsessed over, heirloom products.  That’s what the Rebellion is all about.  Join us!
